Happy Friday, RISERS! I hope this week has been good to you. We’ve made it through the first week of May. This weekend will include Mother’s Day, and I hope you get to spend time with the mom in your life.
Quote of the week: This week I am suspending the typical quote of the week and replacing it with a couple of examples of an actual conversation reported by an amused mother:

On the way back from vacation, a 10-year-old boy was overheard telling his 8-year-old sister, “If you were a Mrs. Potato Head, I would take your mouth right now.”
Movie of the week: This week I want to recommend the movie The Incredibles 2. Helen Parr is a loving mom who steps up to take care of her family when “Supers” are beginning to get positive press. She previously let Bob do the superhero work and was content taking care of their children—who are also superheroes. While Helen went through many situations normal moms would never face, she loved her family without limits. I can’t decide if I like the first movie or the second movie better. But The Incredibles kill it with the close family ties.
Joke of the week: Why is a computer so smart? It listens to its motherboard.
Nugget of Wisdom for the week: I have struggled this week on what to talk about, since I know this holiday weekend can be difficult for many people. One thing I want you to understand is that your mom will always be your mother, no matter how many other mother figures you have in your life. As a mother myself, I can testify that raising children is not for the faint-hearted. Children get themselves in the most peculiar situations, and you try hard not to laugh when you should be strict. Each child requires unique parenting, because what works with one child doesn’t necessarily work with another one. I hope you’ll get the opportunity to enjoy time with the people close to you this weekend.
