Why Our Failures Are Just as Important as Our Successes

Happy Friday, RISERS! I hope you had a safe Memorial Day and that this week has been good to you. At the beginning of June comes my daughter’s graduation from high school and the birthday of my youngest child, who turns 11 today. It is a sobering thing for a mom to get to moments like these and realize how quickly time has passed.

Quote of the week: “Look inside yourself. You are more than you have become.” —Mufasa, from the Disney movie The Lion King

Song of the week: This week I want to introduce you to one of the songs on my Writing Jams playlist: Bad Day by Daniel Powter. We all know how hard it is to get through an unpleasant situation. But guess what? We are not immune from them. So, we need to calmly pick up the pieces of our “bad day” and know that we can make the proverbial lemonade out of lemons.

Joke of the week: Is your name Wi-Fi? ’Cause I’m feeling a connection.

Nugget of Wisdom for the week: I know you’re probably thinking, “Why didn’t you make The Lion King the movie of the week?” Well, believe it or not, the song of the week fits better with the nugget of wisdom I hope to leave you with. It is definitely true that we are more than we have become. It takes all of our experiences—both failures and successes—to shape our personalities. How we respond to a bad day is just as important as how we celebrate our good ones. The lessons we learn from those bad decisions help us grow and not make the same mistakes again in the future. The cool thing is that we can make adjustments at any time and, in that way, be more than we have become.

Have a great week. Remember, you are most awesome and YOU ROCK!
